OUR HISTORY In 2016, co-founders Santiago Lopez and Kristin Panylyk de Lopez visited Colombia after Santiago’s Uncle Felipe purchased a coffee farm and asked for help bringing his beans to Canada. They launched a micro-roastery at local farmers markets in Edmonton in 2017, opened their first brick and mortar cafe in 2018, and have since grown to 6 cafes in Edmonton, 1 cafe in Saskatoon, a coffee truck, a bakery, and a team of over 70 coffee professionals. WHAT WE DO The Colombian is a values-based business focused on making people feel special through simple yet extraordinary hospitality—serving our community, creating magic, and sharing coffee from our family to yours. OUR COLOMBIAN CONNECTION We support our family farm by buying from Uncle Felipe and Aunt Gloria and helping improve production. By working directly with producers, we build lasting relationships, pay profitable prices, and truly know where our coffee comes from.
